Canton monitoring, it is not praise for the 130,000-square-foot regional office proposal that the board of directors unanimously approved Tuesday.
The office will be used for the distribution of parts and include a 15,000 square foot interior room for consideration of technical aspects with the employees of Porsche dealers
It employ 50 full-time employees and 20 part-time workers, said Frank Petkun, IDI regional development officer. About half of full-time employees will be paid by Porsche, and the rest will be recruited locally.
"This is not just a company that is known in the United States, but is known throughout the world as a very good company and it will provide jobs," said vice-president overseers Bob Lammi. "I am very happy to see come to Porsche Palmer Township."
The luxury car company used the office 14 in the north-east and one of only four such offices in the country, "said Rob Nemchik, managing director of Porsche for logistics services.
"Given the 14-state region, the Lehigh Valley is centrally located and it is sound logistics for both the training of our technicians and staff distribution," said Nemchik. "It's a good situation that makes sense logic."
The office will be in the Chrin Commerce Center along Route 33 in Palmer and Tatamy. The developer, Industrial Development International, hopes to break ground next month and open the office in July.
Consulting engineer said Greg Elko about 10 trucks in and out of the office each day. Tractor-trailer size trucks provide articles and parts of the site, delivery, but smaller in size trucks distribute them, Elko said.
Most activities will be in office during the week, but the office will be able to operate 24 hours a day for deliveries.
